Ours is going well. We have managed to get away twice on short breaks. My ankle is healing nicely, I have been able to get onto the golf course.
I found the rehearsals during May, June and July very useful in many respects. It was great that so many of you were able to attend. Thanks to you all for the mutual support and to John and Cathy for the venue.
There were only a few of us at the last session; we didn’t rehearse anything but sang through some favourite pieces, to a varying degree of success. All the pieces were recorded and we offer the recording as a sort of end of season roundup for us all to enjoy.
Here is the track list:
Ave Verum William Byrd
As torrents in Summer Edward Elgar
Sicut cervus Giovanni da Palestrina
Cantique de Jean Racine Gabriel Fauré
Abendlied Josef Rheinberger
If ye love me Thomas Tallis
O Lord, in thy wrath Orlando Gibbons
Love is the sweetest thing arr. NT
May it be Enya
My Father’s World Elaine Hagenberg
Be thou my vision
Next season will start on 10th September in Woodborough Institute.
During the lockdown a lot of work has been done to the room. The raised area at the kitchen end has been removed which affords a lot more usable space. New infrared heaters have been installed and it has been decorated. Cathy, Vicky and I inspected it and were impressed. We were also impressed by the price – just £5 per session. It is not available on the third Friday of the month; we will continue to use Burton Joyce then but otherwise use Woodborough every week.

Have a good break and I hope to see you all in September.
